The fort lies eight kilometers south of the Grand Trunk Road. It is approximately 16 km NW of Jhelum; is near the city of Dina and Proximus 3 km from Khukha.

The fort is known for its largest defensive walls and various monumental gateways. No doubt that, Sher Shah Suri built a powerfully fortified complex at Rohtas. Foreign Tourists and visitors come to visit this sightly heritage, is the representation of power and courage of its founder “Sher Shah Suri”.

Rohtas Fort has 12 beautiful gates and its unique architecture are exceptionally finest. All of the gates are built in ashlar stone. The names of 12 beautiful gates are:

  • Shah Chandwali Gate
  • Kabuli Gate
  • Shishi Gate
  • Langar Khani Gate
  • Talaqi Gate
  • Mori or Kashmiri Gate
